The Problem
At My Pain Clinic treatment of lower back pain is one of our major focuses. It is largely because of the fact that it is one of the most common types of problem, faced by 80 percent of Americans at some point in their lives. A recent survey cites it as the second leading cause of absenteeism. However, a very few people are ever able to completely recover from this issue especially if it is caused by an injury.
At My Plain Clinic, we take a whole different route to diagnose the actual cause of your lower pain. After the diagnosis, we develop a personalized treatment by combining medications, spinal injections, physical therapy/rehabilitation and life style changes that will provide an effective, aggressive, and long-term cure your low back pain.
The Symptoms – Finding the Root
My Pain Clinic’s low back pain treatment starts with proper diagnosis of your pain. Low back pain can be caused due to a number of reasons. The treatment and exercise regimen we suggest may vary from patient to patient. We personalize your treatment to the point where we can actually help you find the right stroke you should use when swimming. And it all depends on the reason behind your back pain.
There can be two main types of causes of lower back pain, spinal or non-spinal:
Spinal Problems Leading To Back Pain
- Radiculopathy– Pain is caused by sciatica, a condition when a nerve is pinched, usually due to a herniated or slipped disk.
- Myofascial Pain–This sore pain is usually caused by poor posture especially in people with sedentary jobs.
- Spinal Stenosis–It is a lower body pain caused by the narrowing of nerve opening around the spinal cord or nerve root.
- Tendon, Ligament and Soft Tissue Pain–Pain caused by overuse or stretching of the muscles in the affected area.
Non-Spinal Causes of Low Back
Sometimes lower body pain is caused by another underlying medical problem such as:
- Appendicitis
- Kidney disease
- Uterine disorders
- Urinary tract infections
It can also be any other pain imitating a back injury.
The Treatment – A Three Phase Cure
While My Pain Clinic takes pride in offering a customized treatment that hits the root of your problem, we have a generalized three phase approach that helps us implement the pain management plan the most systematic manner.
We are an INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MANAGEMENT CLINIC where we prescribe different kinds of injections and procedures to manage pain as well as recommendations for physical therapy/debilitation.
Analysis and Early Treatment
The first phase involves proper diagnosis of the issue and involves initial treatment such as electrical simulation or specialized injections to reduce pain and inflammation. We will first take your detailed history and conduct physical examination and then order diagnostic testing which includes x-rays, MRI, CT scan, EMG/NCV studies and ultrasound. Once a proper diagnosis has been made, we will plan a structured treatment for you based on pain medications, spinal and joint injections and physical therapy.
Recovery
The recovery phase is where we help you develop strength and flexibility of the lower back and improve the posture and position related problems. This will help you get back to your usual activities. This phase includes specially created exercise regimen.
Maintenance
The maintenance phase is to makes sure the pain does not reoccur and further damage is prevented. The maintenance phase involves a total fitness program custom created for each patient. It is designed to improve body’s overall endurance, movement, and mechanics.
